What exactly does the UBH say about self-purchased?

Self-purchased in the army:

2.5 Self-purchase

Approved self-purchased uniform items may be worn instead of issued items. Self-purchased uniform items must always meet the same maintenance and cleaning standards as issued uniform items. It is the responsibility of the individual employee to be able to document that self-purchased uniform items meet the Armed Forces' applicable requirements for safety and quality.

Permanent personnel at Army units may use the following self-purchased uniform items where national operational tasks do not require the use of items provided by the Armed Forces:

  • Jackets, including rain jackets

  • Pants

  • Combat shirt

  • Gloves

  • Boots

Requirements for self-purchased uniform items are:

  • Outerwear must be fitted with Danish-issued name bands, rank insignia and nationality markings in the same location as on issued MTS M/11 uniform items.

  • Outerwear must have infrared (NIR) blocking

Requirements for self-purchased boots:

  • At least 6 inches or 15 centimeters boot shaft

  • Visible lace at the front of the boot

  • Brown/sand colored

Self-purchased from the Home Guard:

1.7. Self-purchase.

Approved self-purchased uniform items for the combat uniform system MTS M/11 may be worn instead of the issued items. Self-purchased uniform items must always meet the same maintenance and cleaning standards as issued uniform items. The individual is required to be able to document that self-purchased uniform items meet applicable safety and quality requirements. Approved self-purchased uniform items must be in an MTS camouflage pattern corresponding to the issued one.

The soldier may use the following uniform items purchased with his own funds, provided that the color, concealment, fire properties and quality correspond at least to that provided by the Home Guard.

  • Jackets, including rain jackets

  • Pants. Combat shirt.

  • Gloves.

  • Boots.

Outerwear must be fitted with a Danish-issued name band, rank insignia and nationality marking in the same location as on issued MTS M/11 uniform items.

It is not permitted to use self-purchased equipment for protective equipment. Protective equipment is defined as a helmet and TYR with protective plates. Where there is a requirement for insect treatment of the uniform, it is not permitted to use corresponding self-purchased jackets and trousers. Self-purchased boots must have a shaft of at least 6 inches (12.25 cm), be brown and have laces.
